New Recent Reads!!!

I have read 2 books and listened to an audiobook since I last posted. I’m not going to share my thoughts on the audiobook with this post though. ONLY because it was another Frieda McFadden book and I told you my love for the ease of them in my last post.

Are you SO excited to see the most recent reads?!?!?!

The Library of Broken Hearts by Lucy Gilmore

I rated this book 4/5. I TRULY enjoyed this semi love story.

I think I was drawn to it right away because the main character works at a book store and has the same love and appreciation for books as I do.

It’s really two stories twined into one another. One in the past and one in the present.

Chloe has been her siblings caretaker since their mother walked out on them. She has sacrificed so much for them to have all that they do. While she is working one day, she found a book that was banned at one time… Tropic of Cancer. She was in awe to find such a book in the library. She opened it up to flip the pages (as any book lover would do) and realized that there was writing in it.

Writing between two young lovers who are TOO young to know what true love is and the sacrifices that are made for one another. Find out how it all ends by reading The Library of Borrowed Hearts! :)

Really Good, Actually by Monica Heisey

2/5… yikes, huh?

I had a very hard time finishing this read. I think it was more because I was unable to relate and it was ALL over the place. There were no labeled chapters which really threw me off. Many random thoughts throughout, although I think was was purposeful on the author’s part to portray Maggie’s struggles.

Really Good, Actually is about a fresh divorcee who is struggling trying to find herself again. How shitty would it be to lose the one person you shared all of your good and bad moments with or your deepest and darkest secrets? The one person you can rely on to make it all better or always knowing you’re falling asleep and waking up next to them everyday?

I thankfully have not experienced a divorce and I hope to never have to. If I had to guess what it would feel like to go through that, I think this author got the point across well.

When I saw this book, I thought it would be more focused on mental health and how badass she becomes post divorce. That sadly was not the case. I am glad I continued to finish this book because 1. I hate not finishing any book and 2. the ending wasn’t exactly what I expected which made it worthwhile.

Well, that is all for now…. I am trying to post every two books to give more content. I know there are not many people who see this… or maybe none at all, but please let me know if you would prefer the posts like I am doing now or make a post each time I finish a book.

OMG!!! and I met my book goal for the year… 50 books! SO SO excited about this!!!!!!!
